Walking Club: Guide Hike with Tom H.

See Canonchet Farm bloom in May and learn about invasive plants and the history of early Narragansett. This will be a guided hike with Tom H. We will meet at South County Museum. In case on inclement weather, this walk will be rescheduled.

Herb Gardening with URI Master Gardeners
Monday May 18 at 1 pm
 
Join the URI Master Gardeners, for an enjoyable and educational session on herbs. There are many ways to grow herbs and with the right elements in place, you can soon be growing a variety of herbs for their many culinary, aromatic, or aesthetic uses! From peppermint to parsley, thyme to tarragon, learn more about the many benefits of growing herbs, as well as a little bit about the history of herbs

Comet Sinking with Bill Campbell

The Comet
At approximately 0710 hours on May 19th 1973, the M/V Comet with a party of 25 plus 2 crew members onboard departed Galilee, Rhode Island en route to the fishing grounds off Block Island. Shortly after departing Point Judith harbor, the vessel encountered heavy seas and at approximately 0800 hours, the COMET foundered and quickly sank by the stern. All hands immediately abandoned the vessel. This would become Point Judith's worst marine disaster.

Save the date! Book and Bag Sale!
The Friends of the Narragansett Library will be having their Book and Bag Sale on June 18 and June 20 this year.
 
Starting Friday, May 1, donations of books, puzzles, CDs/DVDs (in cases) and, new this year, handbags, purses and wallets will be accepted for the Friends of the Narragansett Library's Annual Book Sale.
 
Donations can be brought to the library during regular business hours until Friday, June 12. We cannot accept any moldy, torn, incomplete, dirty or dusty items of any sort. We can also not accept textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, VHS or cassette tapes.
