In conjunction with the Friends of the Narragansett Library, we are pleased to announce a virtual author speaker series entitled Library Speaker Consortium. Patrons can watch live and submit question, or watch on their own time. You also have the opportunity to watch the archived speakers as well. Please visit Library Speaker Consortium here.

Milkweed supports more than just monarchs. Learn all about this amazing plant, its parts and life cycle, and the many animals that interact with it day and night. Includes a drawing activity focusing on colored pencil techniques. Registration required and begins on July 13 at 9am.

Hearing Loss and Winning Solutions with Prof. Nancy Shuster
Wednesday July 22 and July 29 1:00 pm
 
Professor Nany Shuster will offer a two-session program on hearing loss based on her book, HEARING LOSS AND WINNING SOLUTIONS. Professor Shuster is deaf and uses a cochlear implant to hear. She lives with hearing loss and still is able to teach and travel and enjoys her lifestyle. There will be two classes, and students who attend both classes will get a free copy of her book. She has worn the cochlear implant for 12 years. In the past before the implant, she wore hearing aids. This two-session program will meet at the library on two class dates one week apart.
Please register starting July 15 at 9am.

Narragansett Historical Society: Urban Renewal in Narragansett Part 2
Wednesday July 22 at 6pm
 
After receiving approval in 1970 from the Federal government, the town redevelopment agency and town council embarked on a multi-year urban renewal effort to implement the plans shown to voters. For many reasons the plans were not completed as envisioned. Despite the selection of a well-known developer, downtown was demolished and much of the land laid vacant for years before the project was completed.
Registration required and begins on July 15 at 9am.
