Library of Things New Additions
 
 
Many new things have been added to the library of things collection including a power washer, a mah jongg set and tonie boxes. Also, due a generous donation, there has been a large selection of musical instruments added under the Verrecchia Memorial Musical Collection.

Tuesday, Sept 1 at 2pm 
 
Please note new day and time! Beginners are welcome to play Mah Jongg at the library! All levels are welcome as those more familiar with the game will help those not as familiar. There is no formal instruction. Registration is required, space is limited and begins on Aug 18 at 9am.
 
 
 
 

How to be More Lucky with Nora
Wednesday, Sept 2 at 6pm
 
Presented by Nora Barnes. This presentation is based on work of a neuroscientist at Stanford University Medical School. She has studied “luck” for over a decade and has found behaviors that positively correlate to “lucky” or good outcomes. Luck is the result of choices you make and chances you take. It happens because you build a path to its door. Registration begins on Aug 26 at 9 am

In conjunction with the Friends of the Narragansett Library, we are now offering virtual author talks from the Library Speaker Consortium 
 
Prepare to launch into the darkest depths of deep space! Join us online as we sit down with master storyteller Daniel Kraus, winner of the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, to celebrate the release of his breathtaking new novel, The Sixth Nik.

These classes will teach "Inner Light Meditation" which is an ancient and powerful technique designed to elevate the consciousness and increase our awareness of our true inner self; that is not our body nor our mind. There are no restrictions on age, health status, fitness or flexibility. The classes will be taught by students of Inner light meditation with years of experience.  All are welcome. The History of Nancy Drew

Come learn about the history of the beloved sleuth Nancy Drew. At this presentation you will learn about the many different editions of Nancy Drew that have been printed since Nancy Drew came out in the 1930s. You will learn facts that you may not know and be able to ask questions and reminisce about your childhood. You can also bring Nancy drew books from your collections to share with the group and learn about what year your books are from as well as a value. Feel free to bring any items you have related to Nancy Drew that you would like to show the group. The presenter Alicia Mello has been collecting Nancy Drew items for 22 years and loves to talk about the history. Registration required.

Author Talk: Theresa Schimmel

Theresa Schimmel is an award-winning author of adult and children’s fiction whose writing explores history, family, resilience, and personal growth. She is the author of the adult novels Braided Secrets and Yankee Girl in Dixie, and soon-to-be-released YA novel I Belong in the Game. She is also the author of four children’s books: Sunny, David’s War/David’s Peace, The Circus Song, and The Carousel Adventure. A lifelong writer, Schimmel has also published short stories, memoir pieces, and poetry, earning honors such as an Honorable Mention in the 2022 Writer’s Digest competition. Her background as a classroom teacher and educational consultant brings authenticity, insight, and emotional depth to stories written for readers of all ages.
